Morgan Solar Inc began with a mission in 2007 – to develop highly efficient, low cost solar technology. Until now, all the real advancements in solar power have always seemed to be “10 years away”.
John Paul Morgan, a Physics Engineer, with a background in optics, medical imaging and photovoltaics, developed an idea to make solar energy more affordable. His idea was to design an optical concentration system that would elegantly solve the problems of cost, materials, and complexity associated with existing Concentrated Photovoltaic (CPV) systems.
Our first solar panel to market, the Sun Simba, is designed for utility-scale, grid-connected solar farms. Early manufacturing of the Sun Simba for demonstration and test sites has begun at our Toronto facility. Initial commercial systems will be available in early 2011.
Our technology is easy to manufacture, simple, robust, easy to install and maintain, and most of all, affordable.
While developing our technology the solar energy market has exploded. We're now optimally positioned to enter a booming market with a unique product that can compete extremely aggressively on the basis of features, cost and efficiency.
Morgan Solar has secured strategic investments from Iberdrola, the world’s largest new renewable energy provider, and Nypro Inc., a global leader in injection molding and contract manufacturing. We’ll seek new investors during the 2010 summer to ramp up global sales, manufacturing, and delivery capabilities of the Sun Simba.
